Job/Employment Development

Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center has provided job development programs for more than 2 decades.

The fundamental components of our job development work are:

  • The Mayor’s Youth Employment & Education Program (MYEEP), which provides subsidized training and internships for high school freshmen and sophomores. For more information, please contact Lori Tran: ltran@bhnc.org | (415) 206-2140, x143.
  • BHNC’s very own Youth Employment Services (YES) program, providing job development services for 15–24 year olds, including placement and retention support. The YES Program provides job training and wrap-around services at several local high schools, including John O’Connell, Mission, and Downtown High Schools. YES also provide weekly trainings and job placement services at BHNC’s Excelsior Community Center, located at 4468 Mission Street. For more information, please contact Alexander Cotton at acotton@bhnc.org | (415) 307-3346.
  • Youth also gain intensive job readiness and on-the-job training through the YES Program’s 2-week paid “Camp Hire.”

If you are an employer wanting to hire participants, serve as a job shadowing site, or participate in our employment fairs held in September and May, please contact Anahita Modaresi, Director of Youth and Employment Programs at amodaresi@bhnc.org | (415) 206-2140 x153
