Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center
Community Organizing

Outreach, organizing and leadership development builds power among residents with low incomes and other community members. Uniting residents creates change on issues that impact their lives; violence prevention, expanding community services, affordable housing, and land use. Members and the community learn about issues and engage in dialogue through community forums and the New Bernal Journal.

As a Community Convener, BHNC helps develop, strengthen and maintain a coordinated network of children, youth and family service providers. These neighborhood networks include private and nonprofit service providers as well as public agencies including schools, libraries, recreation centers and health centers.Working with 19 other Community Conveners in

San Francisco,  BHNC helps build bridges between service providers and finds creative methods to serve the needs of all children, youth and families in the city. We organize residents to address and prevent violence and promote safe and healthy communities in BernalHeights, the Excelsior, and Outer Mission Neighborhoods as part of the Safety Network, a multicultural citywide partnership. Contact us to get involved and volunteer.
